Welcome
British and Beer go a long way. No celebration for the British is complete without toasting it with beer. In Britain, beer festivals are organized by pubs, Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and several other miscellaneous groups. There are also some festivals organized by rugby clubs where the game is combined with beer and music.
One of the biggest Beer festivals of the country is the Great British Beer Festival which is held each year in London in august. Most of the British beer fests including this one follow a set pattern. Beer is served directly from huge casks of ale which are sourced from various breweries. Payment is often in a token format where many beer drinkers are seen carrying sheets of such tokens at one time.
The Great British Beer Festival is also referred to as the biggest pub in the world as it offers over 450 varieties of British beer and over 200 foreign beers. This event originated in 1975 and spans over a week. Other modes of entertainment like music, games and dance accompany the beer.
Another beer festival organized by the CAMRA is the National Winter Ales Festival and is held in Manchester. This one gives exposure to beer varieties not available in the summers and takes place in January annually. This winter event originated in 1997 and also plays host to the Champion Winter Beer of Britain Awards.
Other British beer festivals include the Peterborough CAMRA Beer Festival at Peterborough, The Farnham Beer Festival of Surrey and The Cambridge Beer Festival. Held across the year, all the festivals mark festivities and get beer drinkers to party.
