Hong kong Beer Fesitval
The biggest Beer Festival, in the eastern side of the world is the Hong Kong Beer Festival. This was started in 1992 and starts in late October and spreads across November. The fiesta is hosted by the Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel and a total Oktoberfest atmosphere is created for total enjoyment.
The Hotel sets up huge tents to accommodate beer lovers. These tents house people at night and have large tables to drink and eat during the daytime. German bands are called in to provide musical entertainment and set the German Oktoberfest feel going. Audience comprises of a Chinese majority and music, games and dance forms an essential part of the festivities.
The action mostly happens in the night here and South German food accompanied by beer is served here. Beer is generally sponsored by known breweries. Many private parties and functions are also organized within this fest each year. While there isn’t any local beer served here, but the known brands are pretty good including Carlsberg, Lowenbrau etc.
The event is organized next to the Star Ferry pier which provides a nice set up against the star lit night for beer drinking and some fun and frolic. While the attendance isn’t every huge at the event, but the organizers are trying their best to encourage beer drinking in this part of the world.
