Americas Beer Festivals
When we talk of Beer Festivals, then how can America be far behind? The United States plays host to two major Beer Festivals called the Great American Beer Festival(GABF) and the Great World Beer Festival(GWBF) respectively.
While the GABF is a three day event, the GWBF is a two day thing over the weekend. The GABF is organized by the Brewers Association of America in end September-Beginning October in Denver, Colorado. Beer lovers from across the globe come to this place to taste more than 2000 varieties of beer. There are awards given away in various beer categories to the breweries. 100 judges from the USA and overseas are appointed for the purpose and they decide on 75 categories of beer. This event originated in 1982 and had 22 participating breweries while the last one in 2008 had 432 attending.
The GWBF was called the ‘Brewtopia’ till recently is the longest, running, beer festival of New York City. It was started in 2002 and is a fun event where craft beer is promoted. This festival has breweries from all across the country attending and beer lovers from the world over coming to sip the excellent brews. Held in the last weekend of October, GWBF is a fun, competitive event that aims to spread beer drinking.
Another well attended Beer festival in the USA takes place in Cincinnati, Ohio. Leavenworth, Washington also plays host to Oktoberfest in the month of October and is a popular beer event this side of the country.
